Volunteer Mentoring/Academic Assistance Program

Volunteers including retired and current UB faculty and staff; UB alumni and students; and Buffalo Public School retirees, teachers, administrators, staff and students are engaging in a ground-breaking Mentoring program.

The University at Buffalo in partnership with the Buffalo Public Schools has launched a volunteer mentoring/academic assistance program. The goal for the program is to have UB Mentors meet with students weekly one-on-one for one hour or more in a location of your choice including on the North or South Campus.

Students are taught in the classroom according to the NYS Curriculum a variety of subjects including English, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies and History. Mentors from our program go one step further by not only helping students be successful on tests and homework; but to also help students become life long learners.

This year-round program runs Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. for September through June and for July and August  Monday through Friday from Noon until 4 p.m.

Please complete the form below to register as a Mentor at a time and place convenient for your schedule.

"This program offers an opportunity for UB Faculty and staff to service the community in a way that they might not be able to do on their own."
