Having satisfied myself as to the desired retirement program available to me by or pursuant to law in connection with my employment by the State University of New York, I hereby elect to participate in the retirement program specified below.

New York State Employees’ Retirement System (ERS) ERS is available to all state employees working in full-time or part-time capacity and is the only Retirement System available to state employees in classified service.
New York State Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) TRS is only available to employee appointed to a faculty title, working in a full-time or part-time capacity.
Optional Retirement Program (ORP) The ORP includes TIAA-CREF, as well as ING, MetLife and VALIC. The ORP is only available to employees appointed to a faculty or professional title in full-time, geographic full-time (GFT) or part-time term positions.

Note: Upon timely receipt of this form, the Benefits Administrator will process your pre-tax retirement contribution according to your election. However, to ensure membership in the system of your choice, it is required that you complete an enrollment form. These forms will be provided to you at a State Benefits Orientation Session and are also available on our web site www.hr.buffalo.edu.
